Looking at new labels from Canada

Lots happening all of a sudden in our office. We were recently invited by the Canadian Embassy to view some Canadian fashion labels for representation. Initially I have to admit I didn’t hold high hopes. We do get asked to take on a lot of labels and I have to say most of them we politely decline. However this meeting was surprisingly very motivating. To say the meeting went well was understatement. We met with an amazing company that is a family owned business who has no interest in retail and owns their own factory. It has been owned by over three generations and now is being run by one of the sons.

They represent 4 very strong labels one which is already present in a large chain in Australia. The person we met was completely au fait with the Australian market and one of the most impressive businessman in fashion I have met to date. His complete understanding of everything in the industry stemming from delivery, to approaching retailers at the right time, to the type of product that works well in certain states in Australia was very impressive to say the least.

What was even more impressive was his 4 brands would be perfect for our staple and sit along nicely with the brands we carry. Those brands also carry considerable weight in the overseas market having already been present in some very large department stores. We walked away feeling very positive and very optimistic and look forward to hearing some good news about his choice of agents within a week or so.
