Strateas Carlucci shone at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week and today the sleek Melbourne-based design duo won the 2014/15 highly prestigious International Woolmark Prize Australia regional final for both the menswear and womenswear categories.
A judging panel comprising Roland Mouret, Fashion Designer; Deborah Foreman, David Jones General Manager for Menswear; Sophie Clarke, David Jones General Manager for Womenswear; Edwina McCann, Vogue Australia Editor-in-Chief; and Kellie Hush, Harper’s BAZAAR Australia Editor-in-Chief selected Peter Strateas and Mario Luca Carlucci of Strateas Carlucci, at an awards event held at The Stables, Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney.
Inspired by Indigenous artist Emily Kngwarreye, Strateas Carlucci were praised for their exquisite tailoring which included woven Merino wool. The woven fabric, which had been supplied by Woolmark licensee Nikke, comprised of a water repellent finish and included complementary detailing between their menswear and womenswear outfits allowing the duo to showcase their brand across the two categories.
