Walking along leafy South Dowling Street in Sydney’s Paddington is the headquarters of Jonathan Howard. Blink and you could miss the wonderful world of millinery which you can quite often be seen graced on the heads of many celebrities.
With over 15 years in the ‘biz’, Jonathan Howard first started his first boutique in Double Bay, and is now relocated to Paddington. The celebrity milliner has had many collaborations, including with designers such as Carla Zampatti, Akira Isogawa, Dion Lee and Camilla.
His label, Hatmaker has also been seen on the likes of the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton, Miranda Kerr, Orlando Bloom, Courtney Love, Yoko Ono and many others.
Yet despite dressing his success, the team remains incredibly down to earth. A true artisan with the collection very much handmade, including hand-beading, hand-embroidery of feathers, crystals and beads, hand-stitching, hand-made flowers. It seems it hasn’t escaped the attention of the international buyers with the much coveted leading e-tailer, Net-a-Porter also picking up the Hatmaker line.
With Spring racing commencing, picking up a piece of exquisite headwear from the Hatmaker’s latest Spring racing 14 collection is a must.
