The ones to watch – Who is the next generation of Australian fashion talent?

With ex-graduates such as Dion Lee, Nicky Zimmermann, Akira Isagowa and Christopher Esber, The Fashion Design (FDS) has proven to be one of Australia’s most respected fashion colleges in Australia. Now in its 60th year, The Fashion Design studio, now offers a degree in Bachelor of Fashion Design giving this college even more credibility.

In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, The Innovators show will consist of six students of this famed college. This year’s Innovators are forward thinking, cultural and have a distinct point of view of what fashion currently represents to them. Their extraordinary use of fabric technology, creative vision and garment execution sets the benchmark for the future of Australian fashion.

“As in past years The Innovators runway presentation at MBFWA is the “must see” show of the week where innovation and creativity take centre stage.” Said Nicholas Huxley, mentor and head of FDS. “I have always been very proud of this show as it gives the Fashion Design Studio, Sydney TAFE the opportunity to show the international fashion world our fabulously talented graduates and a wonderful platform to start their professional careers.

“The 2015 Innovators are a very exciting group indeed.” Says Huxley, “Six very diverse talents who will showcase forward-thinking menswear, multi-cultural detailing, gentle and exotic colour palettes and cutting edge silhouettes. They are a delightfully talented group who thrill beyond expectation.”
