On wintery Saturday evening on June 30, a luxury gala was held at the Art Gallery of New South Wales to celebrate the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prize exhibitions which raised funds for the Gallery’s student outreach and education programs in Western Sydney and greater New South Wales.
Think of a philanthropic event which equally rivals the events in cities like New York and London. With gentlemen in black tie for the evening, the ladies didn’t disappoint with Vera Wang gowns being heavily represented on the red carpet.
With tickets at $2000 a head, guests walked the red carpet and enjoyed Hendricks high ball Archiball cocktails with canapés on arrival by chef Mark Olive, followed by a splendid two-course dinner in the Gallery’s Grand Courts prepared by celebrity chef Matt Moran. The night concluded at the Moët Champagne lounge after party with live entertainment throughout the night featuring violinist Jane Cho on electric violin and DJ Luke Million.
Guests enjoyed meeting 2018 Archibald Prize winner Yvette Coppersmith, Dr Michael Brand, director, and Ms Maud Page, deputy director, Art Gallery of NSW. Members of the newly created AGNSW Luxury Syndicate were in attendance including Rosi Fernandez, Managing Director of La Prairie Group, Mathew Rubie Frasers Hospitality, Joachim Howard Oceans Alliance, and Yvonne Yeoh, CEO of YTD (Vera Wang & Tod’s).
Other notable guests included Goran Drapac, Chairman and CEO of AxiCorp; Andrew Maccoll, Saturate Studios; Peter Allen, CEO of Scentre Group; Wendy Moore, General Manager of Homes and Food at Pacific Magazines, judge on Channel Seven’s House Rules and committee member of the newly created Fearless committee at the Gallery; Outlander and A Place to Call Home actor David Berry; TheRight.Fit, Taryn Williams; with event styling by Al Weekes Creative Director and Kat and Co.
